Variable Data Printing:
A plateless method of printing that allows every piece that comes through a digital press to change format in some way based on the contents of a database. Also VDP.
Varnishing:
A finishing process whereby a transparent varnish is applied over the printed sheet to serve as protection , produce a glossy finish or color.
Vellum Paper:
A paper stock made to imitate the fine, smooth finish of a parchment made from animal skin. Often used for certificates.
Vellum finish:
Relatively rough finish on uncoated paper.
Verso:
The left hand page of an open book.
Vignette halftone:
A halftone whose background gradually fades to white.
Virgin Fibre:
Paper or board pulp fibre which is being used for the first time and not recycled fibre.
